My mind just keeps going on and on about things unrelated and would cause a fairly incoherent train of thought. And yet this lack of clear direction often amalgamates together forming various conclusive ideas that would otherwise be different if one is in constant focus. It is perhaps akin to spontaneous and unwanted metaphors that reshape the fabric of what we believe; stories told in our mind that creates some sort of moral.
